Budapest Airport continues to expand its wide range of destinations as it reveals a new link to Doncaster Sheffield, set to commence on 29th October 2018.

Announcing Wizz Air’s latest connection, the Hungarian gateway has confirmed the ultra-low-cost carrier’s three times weekly flight will be the first non-stop service between the capital city airport and the large market town in Yorkshire, northern UK.

Facing no direct competition, Wizz Air’s new operation will become Budapest’s 15th connection to the UK during winter 18/19, establishing its position as the gateway’s largest country market to be served this winter.

The addition of the new service will see the Central Eastern European airport’s largest carrier operate 66 non-stop destinations from Budapest and overall serve 31 countries directly from the capital city airport.

Balázs Bogáts, Head of Airline Development at Budapest Airport, said: “Year-on-year we see an ever-increasing number of visitors from the UK. Add to this the country’s popularity as a destination for Hungarian travellers, it goes without saying that we are very happy about a direct link to Doncaster.”

He adds: “Wizz Air’s new route will further enhance Budapest’s significant development and Hungary’s rapidly expanding tourism [industry].”

Witnessing an incredible first half of 2018, Budapest saw its passenger traffic grow by a solid 13 per cent. In June alone the airport welcomed 1.35 million passengers, seeing the gateway firmly on its way to breaking the latest forecast of a predicted 14 million passengers by the end of the year.
