London Luton Airport (LLA) has partnered with Trainline to enhance onward travel options with a unique, interactive ticketing experience. A standout 3D train installation—complete with sound effects and a ‘train conductor’—now greets passengers at LLA’s Onward Travel Centre, making the space both functional and engaging.
Details on London Luton Airport’s partnership with Trainline
The feature includes live digital departure boards and a simple QR code access to Trainline’s user-friendly ticketing platform. It marks the UK’s first such airport installation, showcasing LLA’s commitment to seamless, sustainable travel and wider UK connectivity.
Jonathan Rayner, LLA’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Our latest collaboration with Trainline, an airport first, is a great example of the ways in which we look to develop pioneering initiatives with industry-leaders in an airport context to engage with our passengers and provide a service that fits their needs.”
Sarah Helppi, UK Country Director at Trainline, added: “Train should be an easy choice for getting to and from London Luton Airport – it’s the fastest way to get to London and 67% less polluting than car.”
Andy Martin, Surface Access Development Manager at LLA, said Trainline’s digital approach is a key step in evolving LLA’s Onward Travel services.
The airport has also introduced new advance fares via Trainline on the Southeastern network, offering lower-cost travel from LLA to Kent and East Sussex.
With direct rail links to over 50 stations, including 20+ in London, LLA is already well connected. The Luton Airport Express, launched in 2023, allows travellers to reach the terminal in 30 minutes from central London, linking with the DART people mover in under four minutes.
