Brisbane Airport (BNE)

Brisbane Airport is the main international airport for the city of Brisbane and south-east Queensland. The airport operates 24 hours a day with 26 airlines flying to 67 destinations. It is the third largest airport in Australia by passenger traffic with over 22 million people using the airport each year.

Construction and Design Award winner

Brisbane Airport covers some 2,700 hectares, the largest airport in Australia by land size. The airport was constructed on the site of a former Brisbane residential suburb called Cribb Island. As much of that area is wetland, a huge amount of sand was used to raise the ground level to reduce the risk of flooding.

In 2017, Brisbane Airport was voted the winner of the International Airport Review Awards for Construction & Design after a successful runway re-surfacing project.
