Brisbane Airport is the main international airport for the city of Brisbane and south-east Queensland. The airport operates 24 hours a day with 26 airlines flying to 67 destinations. It is the third largest airport in Australia by passenger traffic with 23.8 million passengers transited through Brisbane Airport in FY19.

The airport was voted by passengers as the Best Airport in Australia / Pacific 2016, 2017 and 2019 at the Skytrax World Airport Awards

Brisbane Airport covers some 2,700 hectares, the largest airport in Australia by land size. The airport was constructed on the site of a former Brisbane residential suburb called Cribb Island. As much of that area is wetland, a huge amount of sand was used to raise the ground level to reduce the risk of flooding.
