Watch this exclusive interview to discover CEO Vernice Walkine’s philosophy around passenger experience which has contributed to its success on the world stage.
International Airport Review Editor Holly Miles sat down for this exclusive interview with Vernice Walkine, CEO of Nassau Airport Development Company, which leads the management and operations of Lynden Pindling International Airport (also known as LPIA) in the Bahamas.
LPIA is the largest airport in the Bahamas and the largest international gateway into the country and was recently the host of the Routes Americas 2025 conference.
Vernice delved into the success of the Routes Americas conference, as well as their success in the recent ACI World ASQ Awards where they won Best Airport in the Latin America & Caribbean region (2-5 million passenger category).
Vernice went on to discuss the mindset that everyone who uses the airport is a guest and a visitor, which feeds into their “#NoOrdinaryAirport” social media message and their philosophy around airport experience. To support this, the airport has just launched its training programme called ‘5 Star Guest Experience Makers’.
The Bahamas is very dependent on tourism, in fact it contributes to over 50% of the country’s GDP and employs just over half of the workforce. It is a responsibility that they take very seriously says Vernice, including the Ministry of Tourism who uses the slogan “Tourism is everybody’s business”.
Watch this exclusive interview with the CEO to gain insight into the philosophy that has contributed to its success in the region and on the world stage.
