Birmingham Airport launches a new flight update service via Facebook

Birmingham Airport has pushed to improved its customer service for passengers by adding Flight Smart to Facebook Messenger so flight information can be personalised.

Due to the success of Flight Smart, the flight up-date service via Twitter which was launched back in Summer 2017, Birmingham Airport has invested in extending this service to the Facebook platform and passengers can now also use Facebook Messenger to access flight updates.
Passengers can send their flight number to the Flight Smart messenger page and instantly receive live flight updates direct to their mobile or tablet devices. Facebook Messenger also allows access to much more content, so passengers can access maps and directions, information about restaurants and bars on site and contact details, enabling passengers to plan their trip before they get there.
Jo Lloyd, Business Development Director said: “In this digital age we live by our mobiles, so to be able to see where to check-in, what gate to use and which restaurant to choose from, all from your phone or tablet, takes some of the stress out of travelling. The Twitter Flight Smart has been heavily used by passengers since its inauguration, but we were conscious that not everyone uses Twitter, with the addition of Facebook messenger Flight Smart, all passengers can have up-to-date information on their journey at their fingertips.”
To use the new Flight Smart for Facebook Messenger passengers simply type ‘@flybhx‘ into the search tab on the Facebook app or Birmingham Airport Facebook page.
On the day of travel or if you are flying within the next 12 hours, find your flight number which can be located on your boarding pass. Click on the Messenger icon on the page and inbox your flight number to the Flight Smart Facebook account on Facebook Messenger. This will enable the passenger to receive live flight updates and to navigate through the menu for anything else you need to know about your journey. This service helps passengers get constant flight updates right up until departure, which also allows family and friends to track your flight.
