The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) has introduced CT X-ray technology at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport, marking the first time this advanced screening system has been used at YWG. The new equipment is now operating on line 4 at the Domestic and International security checkpoint, forming part of CATSA’s wider national programme to modernise screening across Canada.

With the new CT scanners in place, passengers using the equipped lanes no longer need to remove bags containing permitted liquids, aerosols and gels of 100 ml or less, medical devices or large electronics such as laptops. The scanners create high-quality three-dimensional images that support screening officers in detecting explosives and other threats, while simplifying the process for travellers.

CATSA has also created an interactive map on its website that shows which airports and individual checkpoints across the country have adopted CT technology. This tool helps passengers understand what to expect before they arrive at security.
