Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (HHN) and Somon Air have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening passenger and cargo connectivity between Tajikistan and Germany. On 7 May 2025, operating companies TRIWO Hahn Airport GmbH and LLC Air Company Somon Air signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. While the full terms remain confidential, both parties will combine their resources and expertise to develop new routes and expand operations.
Details on Hahn Airport’s partnership with Somon Air
“The cooperation with Somon Air fits seamlessly into our strategy of continuously expanding Hahn Airport’s route network and opening up new markets,” said Ruediger Franke, Managing Director of Frankfurt-Hahn Airport. Abdulkosim Valiev, CEO of Somon Air, added: “This strategic alliance is an important step for Somon Air to expand its presence in Germany.”
Somon Air, founded in 2008, is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Its current fleet includes Boeing 737-800 and 737-900 aircraft, and it serves destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, and China.
Frankfurt-Hahn Airport saw a notable increase in activity in 2024, handling approximately 1.9 million passengers, up 12% from 2023, and over 22,000 tons of air freight in the first quarter of 2025, an 8% increase. With a 24-hour operating permit and a central European location, it is a critical hub for freight logistics, offering efficient access to key markets in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
This new alliance marks a key step in expanding Frankfurt-Hahn’s international reach and enhancing Tajikistan-Germany connectivity in both cargo and passenger sectors.
