UrbanV S.p.A., a global leader in vertiport infrastructure and Innovative Air Mobility (IAM) services, has announced a strategic partnership with Speedbird Aero, a pioneer in drone logistics, to drive the development of advanced aerial mobility in Italy.

Details on Italy’s drone delivery advancements

This collaboration aims to create a seamless, integrated ecosystem for drone cargo delivery and urban air mobility, combining UrbanV’s infrastructure expertise with Speedbird Aero’s cutting-edge autonomous drone technology.

The agreement focuses on several key areas. Joint operational hubs will integrate drone logistics into UrbanV’s existing and upcoming vertiport facilities. Pilot projects across Italy will showcase scalable urban drone delivery models and intermodal air mobility networks. Additionally, Speedbird Aero’s automated flight platforms will be embedded into UrbanV’s digital vertiport ecosystem, allowing real-time tracking, coordination, and fleet management.

A major emphasis of the partnership is sustainability, with both companies committing to carbon-neutral operations. The use of electric, zero-emission aerial vehicles, paired with eco-optimised route planning, will support greener, faster, and more accessible logistics and transport solutions across urban and regional landscapes.

“This partnership enables the construction of necessary infrastructure to realise the potential of these solutions, generating concrete advantages for urban areas, commercial enterprises, and residents throughout Italy,” said Manoel Coelho, CEO and Co-Founder of Speedbird Aero.

Carlo Tursi, CEO of UrbanV, added, “We are excited to join forces with Speedbird Aero, a globally recognised leader in drone logistics. This partnership represents a significant step forward in bringing cutting-edge aerial services and drone delivery solutions to Italy.”

The first pilot programs under the agreement are scheduled to begin in 2025, with the initial operational site currently under review. The initiative signals a key milestone in accelerating the adoption of IAM technologies in Italy and beyond.
