The World Economic Forum and GenZero launch Green Fuel Forward to boost SAF demand and decarbonise Asia-Pacific’s fast-growing aviation sector.

The World Economic Forum (WEF), in collaboration with GenZero, has launched Green Fuel Forward, a new initiative to scale demand for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Announced during the GenZero Climate Summit 2025, the initiative aims to build regional capacity for aviation decarbonisation, catalyse SAF demand, and support global goals like the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s target of a 5% carbon intensity reduction in jet fuel by 2030.
Unlocking the potential of sustainable aviation fuel in Asia-Pacific
Green Fuel Forward unites airlines, logistics firms, and corporates in APAC under a shared mission to drive demand for SAF. Participants already include Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Qantas Group, Boeing, DHL, DBS Bank, Neste, Mizuho, UOB, Temasek, and more. Planned activities include workshops and tools offering guidance on key issues such as environmental integrity, SAF book-and-claim systems, and reporting practices. Participants will also have the opportunity to test SAF or SAF certificate (SAFc) purchases, in line with competition law.
Laia Barbarà, Head of Climate Strategy at the WEF, said: “We are thrilled to expand the World Economic Forum’s aviation decarbonisation efforts by creating a targeted program to unlock Asia-Pacific’s immense potential.” She added it will complement initiatives like Airports of Tomorrow and the First Movers Coalition.
Frederick Teo, CEO of GenZero, added: “The Asia-Pacific region has a unique opportunity to lead in sustainable aviation fuels… Green Fuel Forward can provide the technical clarity and corporate commitment needed to scale SAF adoption.”
The APAC region, with its expanding aviation market, ample feedstock, and increasing regulatory support, is seen as key to accelerating SAF development. All APAC-based airlines and corporates interested in procuring SAF and SAFc are invited to participate. More details can be found at WEF’s Green Fuel Forward site.
