Last month (July 2023) PortsToronto, the owner and operator of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, confirmed that a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (U.S. CBP) will be introduced at downtown Toronto Airport and will be operational by 2025.
International Airport Review Editor, Holly Miles, caught up with IAR Advisory Board Member, RJ Steenstra, who is also President and CEO of PortsToronto to discuss the news.
RJ discussed the benefits to passengers that the CBP facility will bring which includes over 20 new markets, the next-generation technology that will be used, as well as the challenges and operational opportunities.
