Denver International Airport awarded Colorado of the Year award.

Denver International Airport (DEN) has been recognised as 2023’s Colorado Airport of the Year by the Colorado Division of Aeronautics. The award was presented to DEN CEO Phil Washington by David Ulane, Director of Aeronautics Division at the Colorado Department of Transportation, and Ken Maenpa, Chair of the Colorado Aeronautical Board, at the American Association of Airport Executives’ 95th Annual Conference and Exposition at Denver in early June 2023.

“We are honoured to be recognised as the 2023 Colorado Airport of the Year,” said Denver International Airport CEO Phil Washington. “This award acknowledges the hard work and dedication of more than 37,000 airport employees and our partners. Even as we accept this honour, we acknowledge we still have a lot of work to do and pledge to continue working to improve security wait times, institutionalising equity in all of DEN’s initiatives and providing the customer experience and service our travellers expect.”

“For decades, DEN has been a stalwart supporter of our Division of Aeronautics and Colorado’s entire state-wide aviation system. Their collaboration with us on a number of impactful state-wide initiatives has made all of our airports safer, more efficient and more accessible, and we are proud to recognise them as our 2023 Airport of the Year”, said David Ulane.

The Colorado Airport of the Year Award is presented annually by the Colorado Division of Aeronautics to recognise Colorado public-use airports that exhibit outstanding contributions to the Colorado Aviation System. Airports distinguished with this recognition demonstrate values that fall in line with the CDOT Division of Aeronautics mission to advance a safe, efficient, and an effective state-wide aviation system through collaboration, investment, and advocacy.

The Colorado Airport System consists of 76 public-use airports that support over 345,000 jobs, provide $16.2 billion in annual payroll, and $48.6 billion in total business revenue for the State of Colorado. More information can be found here.
