Sangster Airport unveils ‘Park Smart’ system to ease traffic and improve user experience

MBJ Airports Limited (MBJ), operator of Sangster International Airport (SIA) in Montego Bay, Jamaica, has announced a new “Park Smart” initiative to improve parking efficiency, traffic flow, and accessibility for airport users. The new system, which takes effect on 1 June 2025, introduces clearly defined short-term and long-term parking options.

Peter A. Hall, Chief Operating Officer at MBJ, said the move addresses a long-standing issue for passengers and visitors: “We understand that clear, convenient parking options are essential to a stress-free airport experience and so, these enhancements represent our ongoing commitment to providing a superior experience for everyone who uses the parking facilities at Sangster International Airport.”

The new arrangements are as follows:

Arrivals public car park – short-term parking only

• Designed for visits of 3 hours or less
• Charged at $250 JMD per hour or part thereof
• No overnight parking
• Ideal for quick pick-ups, with passengers encouraged to meet inside the car park

Departures public car park – short and long-term parking

• Also begins at $250 JMD per hour
• After 3 hours, a flat rate of $1,000 JMD per day applies
• Designated for all overnight parking
• Suitable for travellers leaving vehicles while away

Hall added, “By optimising our parking facilities, we are ensuring more efficient traffic management throughout the airport complex.” The changes were announced in advance to allow users to prepare. “We want to ensure that all users of the airport, visitors and travellers, have ample time to understand and adjust to these new arrangements,” Hall said.
