At Future Travel Experience Global 2022 in Las Vegas we asked Linda Schucroft, Director, Innovation at Vancouver Airport Authority, the question: “What is the biggest opportunity for airports right now?”

Linda said that the biggest opportunity for airports was to leverage emerging technologies such as the Metaverse and the digital twin to transform the airport experience from one that is fraught with anxiety and stress, to one that is seamless, transparent and predictable. This will help passengers to know information beforehand about queues, shop, dining and security etc and then allow them to come to the airport and experience those processes using digital platforms at the airport.

  1. Scott Jones says:

No passenger is going to waste their time putting on VR headsets to look around an airport. Airports should focus on removing barriers for passengers to get from curb to gate, facial recognition, e-gates, seamless flow.
