San Francisco International Airport (SFO) announced it has received renewal of its Airport Health Accreditation from Airports Council International (ACI) World and ACI Americas. ACI’s Airport Health Accreditation programme evaluates health measures and safety procedures implemented at airports worldwide in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“Ensuring the health and safety of our passengers and employees has always been SFO’s highest priority,” said Airport Director Ivar C. Satero. “We adopted these industry best practices to keep air travel safe and meet the challenges of the pandemic. Earning the renewal of the ACI Airport Health Accreditation is an acknowledgement that the actions we have taken continue to keep SFO a safe and welcoming airport.”

Areas of assessment for reaccreditation include recommended health measures established in the ACI Aviation Business Restart and Recovery guidelines and ICAO Council Aviation Recovery Task Force Recommendations, along with industry best practices, which include cleaning and disinfection, physical distancing, staff protection, physical layout, passenger communications, and passenger facilities.
