Paper: A circular economy for civil aerospace
While the majority of carbon emissions occur during flight operations, the industry must also tackle emissions from production to meet net zero targets.
As the need for action to tackle the predicted climate breakdown emergency increases, combined with the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, a fundamental re-evaluation is required into how we design, manufacture, recycle and reuse aerospace vehicles to support net zero ambitions.
Could a circular economy – the reuse, refurbishment, repurposing and recycling of aircraft components – be the answer?
