More than 40 million passengers travelled through Avinor’s airports during the course of 2010. This represents an increase of 4.3 per cent compared to 2009. The increase was close to 8.2 percent on international routes and 2.3 percent on domestic routes.

Almost 3 million passengers travelled through Avinor’s airports in December. This was 7.9 percent more than during the same month in 2009. The increase was 8.6 for international flights and 7.7 for domestic flights.

“We have experienced an increase throughout the year, with the exception of the ash crisis in the spring. For the year as a whole we are at the same level as the 2008 peak year, before the financial crisis led to a drop in traffic,” says Ove Narvesen, Avinor Director of Communications.

In 2008 39,547,090 passengers travelled through Avinor’s airports. This did not include offshore traffic. This amounts to 560,000 passengers this year.

Among Avinor’s largest airports, Oslo Airport Gardermoen experienced a passenger increase of a total of 5.6 prosent in 2010 compared to the previous year.

Other airports, such as Bergen Airport Flesland, saw an increase of 4.5 percent, while Trondheim Airport Værnes and Stavanger Airport Sola saw increases of 2.8 and 1.5 percent respectively.

The regional airports had a combined increase of a 2.6 percent in 2010.

Local airports increased passenger numbers by 2.2 percent.

The number of landings and take-offs (aircraft movements) increased by 0.3 percent in 2010 compared to the previous year.
