“Park & Fly”, Hong Kong International Airport’s (HKG/HKIA) newest intermodal transfer option for passengers from the Greater Bay Area (GBA), began service today. The service is open to travellers driving qualified vehicles from Guangdong Province, including single plate vehicles, as well as Macao. Passengers can drive across the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge (HZMB) directly to the “Park & Fly” car park beside HKIA, leave their vehicle with the automated system and continue to international destinations without clearing Hong Kong border controls. Pre booking is required and all procedures are completed through a dedicated online platform operated by Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK).

AAHK Chairman Fred Lam and Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan welcomed passengers using the service on its first day. Fred Lam said, “‘Park & Fly’ signifies our commitment to the GBA market and regional integration. In addition to cross boundary high speed ferries, buses, and high speed rail, ‘Park & Fly’ provides another option for travellers from Guangdong and Macao that brings the airport right to their doorsteps. We provide a convenient one stop reservation service. This fully automated car park built and operated by AAHK is not only the largest of its kind in Hong Kong, but rarely seen anywhere else.” He added that “Park & Visit” will launch next year to support inbound travel.

Mable Chan said, “The ‘Park & Fly’ automated car park is a key supporting facility for the ‘Southbound Travel Scheme’ policy and represents its first major milestone. One bridge, two way connectivity, benefitting numerous industries and creating limitless opportunities, the journey begins today.” She added that the service highlights Hong Kong’s progress in smart transport and its deeper integration into national development.

Located within the restricted area of the Hong Kong Port of the HZMB and close to HKIA, the five storey car park offers 1,800 parking spaces initially, expanding to 3,000 when complete. It includes designated areas for drop off and pick up. Using advanced technology, “Park & Fly” is Hong Kong’s first fully automated parking system. After handing over their cars, passengers take a bonded bus to the airport’s restricted area for boarding, while arriving passengers return by bonded bus to retrieve their vehicles.
