Dior and Louis Vuitton boutiques debut at Malpensa Airport as luxury retail sales surge, driven by international passengers and intercontinental traffic recovery.


Milano Malpensa Airport (MXP) is cementing its position as a leading destination for luxury retail shopping in Europe with the opening of Dior and Louis Vuitton boutiques. These iconic fashion houses join an expanding roster of 22 high-end brands at the airport, excluding additional retail offerings within Dufry stores.

The new boutiques, located in a prime post-security area of Terminal 1, enhance Malpensa’s reputation as a premium retail hub, comparable to Milan’s Quadrilatero della Moda and other global fashion centres.

The airport’s luxury retail segment is seeing notable growth. In the first five months of 2025, luxury sales rose by 18% compared to the same period in 2024, building on a 21% increase recorded across 2024. This upward trend is closely linked to the return of intercontinental traffic and a rise in international, high-spending passengers, particularly from Asia and the Middle East, who now account for over 80% of luxury purchases. Additionally, the average transaction value increased by over 9% year on year.
Malpensa continues to evolve as a global gateway, offering not only business and leisure connections but also a high-end shopping experience tailored to discerning travellers. These developments reflect the broader success of the SEA retail system, which includes Milano Linate. Across both airports, 2024 saw a 15.4% rise in total sales, with commercial revenue reaching a record €470 million. Retail sales grew by 15.3% and food and beverage sales by 16.6%, with per-passenger spending also on the rise.
