PIT announced an exciting expansion to its stores and restaurants, with 15 local, national and global brands set to open inside the airport.

These concessions will include a mix of shopping, including fashion, cosmetics and gifts, as well as additional healthy quick service dining.

PIT says the new concessions reflect passenger feedback from both Pittsburgh-based travellers and visitors to the region.

“More shopping and dining choices have been a top request from our travellers, and we are excited to introduce 15 new concessions that complement the construction of our new terminal and airside renovations,” said Bryan Dietz, senior vice president of Air Service and Commercial Development at PIT.

“From additional healthy dining options to more fashion and cosmetic choices, this expansion of concessions represents yet another way PIT is continuing to transform the passenger experience while accommodating the additional passengers our airport is seeing through new air service to our airport.”

Which eateries and stores are coming?

Headlining the options expected to join PIT is Shake Shack, the globally loved burger chain that opened its first Pittsburgh location at the Terminal in the Strip District this May.

The new lineup also includes several local brands, such as the entrepreneurial Wexford-based coffee and tea house Café Conmigo, and national brands including Jimmy John’s, Sambazon Acai, the award-winning breakfast restaurant Bad Egg, modern deli Stack +Press Delicatessen, Mexican restaurant Mi Casa Cantina and Camden Food Market.

The new dining options join Beercode Bar & Kitchen, which opened in June in the Airside Center Core near Concourse C. Beercode offers an extensive breakfast, lunch and dinner menu incorporating a modern twist on favourites such as chicken and waffles, a brie and prosciutto omelet and a pierogi plate, along with a variety of unique local alcoholic beverages.

In addition to the new food options, some existing concessions, including Johnston and Murphy and InMotion, are undergoing full refits and showcasing their latest store designs. InMotion will also be opening an additional larger store to serve the growing technology needs of travellers with a focus on Apple products.

Champion City Sports will be among several new specialty retail stores to open at PIT. The ultimate destination for Pittsburgh sports fandom, the store offers not only ever-popular Pittsburgh sports team wear and memorabilia–with collaborations from the likes of Build-a-Bear and Vera Bradley–but also incorporates a unique experiential element through a Sports Simulator for customers to play.

Other retailers will include MAC, the authority in global makeup and cosmetics, and Duquesne & Co, a modern gifting/accessories concept focusing on local artisans.

The majority of the new concessions will open in the Airside Terminal from which all of PIT’s arriving and departing flights operate. Some concessions will also open in PIT’s new terminal, scheduled to open next year, including pre-security locations.

“We are excited to welcome new and expanded business partners at the airport who are excited to be a part of the transformation of their airport,” Dietz said. “We appreciate the investment they are making into the passenger experience and their support of the growing business and economic impact our airport has on this region.”

More information on locations, operating hours and opening dates of the new concessions will be shared at future dates–as will plans for other new concessions still in the works.
