Linköping City Airport’s runway to be moved and broadened

To reduce noise levels within the city, and to encourage traffic growth, Linköping City Airport’s runway is to be moved.

At Linköping City Airport it has been confirmed that Peab and Saab AB will move and broaden the existing runway.
The project is a traditional contract, a contract worth SEK 190 million. Construction began in April 2020 and the project is expected to be completely finished in the autumn of 2022.
Moving the runway will reduce the noise levels in Linköping city and create room for growth. The goal is to move the existing runway 600m eastwardly from the city. It will also be adjusted to adhere to current regulations that enable larger planes to take off and land.
“We are proud to be part of the development of the airport. We are a local community builder and one of the reasons we won the contract is that we have the requisite resources for the project within Peab. This is what we call locally produced community building,” said Lars Lind, Production Manager at Peab.
The project will be order registered in the second quarter of 2020.
“We look forward to working together with Peab as a partner. Peab has previously done a major job on the runway and it turned out well. Working on the project while Saab’s flight testing operations are in full swing requires special consideration,” commented Torbjörn Nibelius, Group Property Manager at Saab.
