Denver International Airport introduces AirsideDrive, helping small businesses afford airside driving insurance with up to 80% cost reduction.

Denver International Airport (DEN) has launched a new Airside Excess Auto Liability Programme to assist airport tenants, contractors, service providers, and suppliers in more affordably meeting the $10 million insurance coverage required for unescorted airside driving. The new AirsideDrive initiative offers eligible participants up to an 80% cost reduction in obtaining this coverage.
Details on Denver Airport’s new insurance programme
In partnership with TrueNorth Companies, DEN developed a unique solution that simplifies the process of securing $9 million in excess auto liability coverage, added to a primary $1 million policy. This approach eliminates the stress and financial burden typically linked with high-limit insurance policies. Historically, such requirements posed a barrier for small businesses unable to afford the coverage, effectively excluding them from opportunities on DEN’s airfield.
“While $10 million auto liability for airside driving is a prudent limit for DEN to require of all our partners that need to drive on DEN’s airfield, we recognise it also created a barrier for small businesses to pursue many airport opportunities,” said DEN CEO Phil Washington. “This first of its kind programme is aimed at helping solve that problem and is a testament to our Risk Management team’s dedication to innovation.”
An excess insurance program designed to provide multiple benefits:
- Affordable coverage: save up to 84% compared to traditional excess liability insurance, with flexible monthly coverage and payments
- Bridging the gap: most companies have only $1M in auto liability coverage. Our program provides an additional $9M in excess coverage to meet the $10M requirement
- Easy access: paperless enrollment application with a short list of questions to get started
- Comprehensive protection: tailored $9M excess coverage designed specifically to meet DEN’s auto liability requirements
- Automatic payment: online autopay process makes it simple to keep your coverage in place
- Small business boost: enables greater opportunity for small businesses to pursue airside contracts and grow with DEN without the challenge and financial burden of obtaining higher limits of insurance on their own
