Halifax Stanfield International Airport (HSIA) is the very first airport in Canada to have earned the “Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Assured” industry benchmark of service excellence. HSIA is just the tenth airport in the world to receive this prized designation.

“Halifax Stanfield has been ranked the best airport in the world in its class for the past seven straight years and receiving this prestigious certification reaffirms our commitment to providing the best airport experience in the world,” says Tom Ruth, Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) President & CEO.

“This is a reflection of years and years of hard work by everyone throughout our entire airport community,” adds Ruth. “Our airlines, our retailers, our food and beverage partners, our Tartan Team volunteer hosts, our many service providers, HIAA employees – everyone can take great pride in this latest global recognition.”

This certification is awarded by Airports Council International (ACI) and recognizes an airport’s commitment to maintaining the industry’s highest service standards. The ASQ Assured logo is viewed as an industry seal of approval and is evidence of a commitment to excellence. To receive this certification, ACI completed an exhaustive audit at Halifax Stanfield that analyzed a wide array of customer service standards and management processes, as well as passenger satisfaction survey results.

“This accomplishment confirms the airport’s long-term commitment to quality service delivery and their willingness to benchmark their service delivery against the highest levels of industry best practice,” says Angela Gittens, Director General, ACI.

“They have met stringent service levels established in three key areas: facilities and services provided, customer satisfaction, and service quality management. Certification is the result of management and staff dedication to customer service principles. I applaud this achievement,” she says.

Halifax Stanfield will be presented with this new designation at the 2010 ASQ Awards ceremony in New Delhi, India on April 7, 2011.

Halifax Robert L. Stanfield International Airport is Atlantic Canada’s principal full-service airport providing passengers and cargo clients with access to markets across Canada, the United States and Europe. It’s the only airport in Atlantic Canada to offer Canada Customs services on a 24 hour, seven day a week basis, and U.S. preclearance. The Airport, a major economic generator valued at over $1.22 billion to the provincial economy, welcomes over 3.5 million passengers annually; gives back through its Community Outreach Program and its Signature Partnership with Habitat for Humanity; and is an internationally recognized leader in customer service, having been rated the Best Airport in the World in its class for the past seven years.
