The Airports Authority of India has finalised airspace design for Navi Mumbai and Noida airports, improving flight efficiency, safety, and sustainability in India’s busiest air corridors.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has successfully completed airspace design and flight procedures for Navi Mumbai International Airport and Noida International Airport (Jewar). This achievement highlights AAI’s expertise in managing complex airspace configurations near some of India’s busiest aviation hubs.

As India’s Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP), AAI is responsible for air navigation services across the country, including at these new airports. AAI’s airspace and flight procedure design team has meticulously developed Instrument Flight Procedures (IFPs) to optimise flight efficiency, reducing emissions, track miles, and flight times for aircraft operating in the Delhi-Mumbai air corridors.
To achieve this, AAI collaborated with Boeing India, which provided critical support through simulation and conflict analysis using the Total Airspace and Airport Modeler (TAAM) in Bengaluru. This partnership enhanced the development and validation of Standard Instrument Departures and Standard Terminal Arrivals.

Shri Vipin Kumar, Chairman, AAI, stated:
“In the context of the ongoing strategic partnership between the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Boeing India, experts from Boeing collaborated with the AAI Flight Procedure Design team to assess and confirm the arrival and departure protocols for the new airports being developed in Jewar (Noida) and Navi Mumbai. The joint efforts have facilitated the safe and efficient integration of operations at these new airports with existing operations in Delhi IGI and Mumbai CSMIA airports.”

The IFPs have been successfully flight-validated by a domestic airline and approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) India. These procedures will significantly improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability in India’s busiest air corridors.

This milestone aligns with AAI’s commitment to the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat initiative, reinforcing its focus on sustainability and innovation to support India’s growing aviation sector.
