BADA, securing trajectory prediction

On Thursday 28 June, EUROCONTROL and Boeing signed an amendment to the Cross License Agreement, established in October 2009, setting the grounds for active collaboration in developing and maintaining up to the highest standards BADA, the EUROCONTROL aircraft performance model and related database. The agreement was signed by Bo Redeborn, Principal Director ATM, and Francisco Escartí, Managing Director, Boeing Research & Technology Europe, S.L.
This amendment defines legal framework that would allow EUROCONTROL to deploy and sub-licence the newly developed BADA family 4 models for Boeing aircraft to ATM community worldwide. Similar agreements have been put in place with other major aircraft manufacturers, namely Airbus, Embraer and Dassault, while negotiation are undertaken with others.
EUROCONTROL, as an inter-governmental non-commercial organisation, has demonstrated its unique position to provide aircraft performance data to the ATM community whilst safeguarding the interests of the aircraft manufacturers. The BADA project team invests continuous efforts in improving BADA model and fostering cooperative network amongst its users which include most respectful R&D entities, major ANSP’s and ATC operational systems providers (companies such as Thales, Indra and Barco are building their new operational systems using BADA for trajectory prediction).Today, BADA’s is a trustful product which added value is recognised throughout the ATM community worldwide.
By providing the ATM community with a single source of aircraft related data, BADA secures the coherence of trajectory simulation and prediction outputs, thus contributing to the harmonisation and integration of air navigation services.
