At Routes World International Airport Review‘s Editor Holly Miles got the inside scoop on the upcoming Noida International Airport with CEO, Christoph Schnellmann.
The highly anticipated greenfield Noida International Airport is set to begin operations in July this year, and will serve as the second major aviation gateway in the Delhi National Capital Region. The Indian aviation market is set to grow by a whopping 500% in the next 30 years which means the airport needs to be set to handle growth of passengers.
In its initial phase, the airport is designed to accommodate 12 million passengers. The airport’s infrastructure is designed in a modular way, allowing for expansion as demand and traffic grow. In a second development phase, the airport expects to more than double the existing capacity to accommodate up to 30 million passengers. The long-term plan is to develop the airport for a capacity of up to 70 million passengers.
