“We welcome the introduction of the South East Airports Taskforce and look forward to working with the new Government…”
Stewart Wingate, Chief Executive Officer, Gatwick Airport, said:
“We welcome the introduction of the South East Airports Taskforce and look forward to working with the new Government, airlines and industry partners to deliver a great experience for Gatwick passengers now and in the future.
“As an independent airport, Gatwick is competing to attract new airlines and passengers, investing £1 billion to improve facilities and increasing the efficiency of our operations. The quality of service we provide to our passengers and airlines is central to Gatwick’s strategy to develop and grow.
“The Government has been clear that it will not support new runways in the south east during its term of office and we have also been clear that a second runway at Gatwick is not an immediate priority for us.”
