SITA, the global specialist in air transport communications and IT solutions, has signed a collaboration agreement with Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education (ITE), to enhance the training of students in airport passenger services. This represents another significant step in the development of skilled manpower for Singapore’s growing civil aviation industry. About 100 ITE students are expected to undertake the training every year.

ITE’s Passenger Services students will be trained using SITA’s departure control software, which is used to check-in and board millions of passengers at more than 70 international airports around the world. SITA brings its unique experience to ITE. Almost every airport and airline in the world does business with SITA and it has an unrivalled presence at more than 1,000 of the world’s airports. In addition to its world-class technology, SITA will provide extensive training and support services to ITE staff and lecturers.

Ilya Gutlin, SITA President Asia-Pacific, said: “This is a great program – SITA is bringing the airport to ITE and supporting this leader in technical education. Our collaboration with ITE is part of SITA’s global initiative to support the development of the next generation of aviation workers through a strong focus on education.”

“People are the most important resource in determining the competitiveness of an organization.  It is one of SITA’s goals to support the training of young people who aspire to develop a career in the air transport industry. Given the Singapore Government’s aim to improve opportunities for ITE and polytechnic graduates, this is a timely announcement and represents another important milestone in SITA’s commitment to the air transport community here in Singapore.”
