Stansted Airport saw over 1.34 million passengers pass through the terminal in March 2014, down 0.3% over the corresponding month last year. The slight drop in the monthly numbers was due to the later Easter holidays this year – passenger numbers for the first 24 days of March 2014 year were up 5.75% on last year.

The overall number of passengers using the airport in the year ending March 2014 was 17.99 million, an increase of 2.7% over the previous 12 months.

Andrew Harrison, Stansted’s Managing Director, said:

“To see the number of passengers passing through Stansted in the first financial year of ownership by M.A.G increase by 2.7% is a massive achievement, especially after six years of declining traffic, and we look forward to once again breaking through the 18 million passenger mark during April.

“We expect the number of passengers using Stansted will increase at a fast pace this year following the recent launch of a number new routes for the summer season as we work with our airline partners to offer even more choice, great service and attract more customers.”
