Air transport IT specialist, SITA, was named the ‘Best Airport IT Service Provider’ in the Emerging Markets Airports Awards (EMAA), 9 April in Abu Dhabi. The award recognizes SITA for its ‘Intelligent Airport’ concept, which involves tracking, managing and sharing real-time information among all stakeholders in the airport ecosystem. This in turn optimizes airport processes and decision-making and helps airports become more proactive and predictive in enhancing the passenger journey.

The EMAA also applauded SITA’s tailored solutions for regional airports and for using integrated IT solutions, which play a crucial role in optimizing airport processes.

Hani El-Assaad, SITA President, Middle East, India and Africa, said: “SITA has operated at the forefront of the air transport industry for more than 60 years, and we are honored to be named the Best Airport IT Service Provider. SITA works with almost every airline and airport in the world, innovating with our partners to provide community value for the entire air transport industry.”

This marks the third time SITA has received an EMAA as Best IT Service Provider. The company received the same award in 2010 and 2011. Roger Nakouzi, Regional Sales Director, SITA, accepted the award on behalf of SITA at a ceremony held 9 April at the Park Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

El-Assaad said: “It’s clear to us that collaborative innovation will transform the air transport industry. Our strategic investments, portfolio developments and innovations are always focused on the industry’s future—and we want to be sure that all markets have access to the same innovative services and solutions.”

The EMAA awards distinguish excellence in 23 categories of airport operations and of professionals from the emerging markets of the Middle East, Africa, the Indian subcontinent, Russia and the CIS states. Recipients were selected by surveying the most diverse and discerning group of professionals involved in airports, aviation, aerospace, and cargo and logistics across the emerging markets.
