The end of 2011 saw a new record for the transport of goods at Liege Airport, which is also registering a growth in passenger numbers.
During the month of December 2011, 55,807.95 tons of goods transited through Liege Airport, compared to 52,311.20 tons in December 2010, in other words a growth of 6.68%
2011 has ended with a new record in cargo transport. In twelve months, a total of 674,469.82 tons came through Liege Airport, compared to 639,434.07 tons in 2010, which represents a growth of 5.47%.
The number of passengers increased by 3.4% with 309,206 passengers using the airport facilities compared to 299,043 passengers in 2010.
The number of aircraft movements also saw a significant growth of 12.14% with 54,403 movements in 2011 (compared to 48,515 movements in 2010).
This excellent report confirms the strategy of Liege Airport, as General Director Luc Partoune explains: “While international air transport of goods decreased by 4% on average in the six months that followed the financial crisis, our airport continues to develop, with 5% growth in traffic for the year. The operators present on site are expanding their business activities. This is undeniably a strong performance in a gloomy economic context. And as regards passengers, the strategic collaboration with tourist operators is beginning to yield results.”
In 2012, over 11 million euros in investments have been planned to improve the range of cargo services available, and commercial prospects (passengers, property, etc.) are good.
