Bengaluru International Airport today brought home a prestigious award. It has been acknowledged with the CNBC AWAAZ Travel Awards 2010 under the category of ‘Best Managed Airport’ in the country. Bengaluru International Airport was declared the winner post an objective, robust and comprehensive study conducted by India’s leading research firm, The Neilson Company. CNBC AWAAZ hosted a gala awards ceremony on September 8th, 2010 in New Delhi; the event was attended by the industry veterans and presided over by Kumari Selja, Minister of Tourism, Housing and Poverty alleviation. The aim of these awards was to recognize and honor best in class organizations, destinations, infrastructure and service providers.
Upon return today, the President Mr. Marcel Hungerbuehler and Mr. Hari Marar, Director Operations, were received by the airport staff with much fanfare and excitement. Mr. Hungerbuehler said “In just over 2 years of airport operations, the team has managed to earn many accolades, but this one is special as it is a part of the larger travel & tourism fraternity and comes from votes received by the airport users. The excitement and passion with which the team performs is commendable and this award is dedicated to each one of the employee and partners involved. The Bengaluru International Airport has already crossed the 10.6 million mark in terms of passenger traffic and is poised to become the gateway to South of India.”
Fourth year in the running, the CNBC AWAAZ Travel Awards 2010 is an annual event hosted by CNBC AWAAZ to honor the best in class travel destinations and other ancillary services of the tourism industry. The CNBC AWAAZ Travel Awards are based on an exhaustive consumer response study, conducted across 12 cities in India with over 1918 respondents across various segments that include Adventure, General public and Corporate. With an objective of felicitating the best in the industry, the CNBC AWAAZ Travel Awards 2010 aimed at identifying India’s travel potential and understanding the consumer mindset.
