I share Colehan’s views but surely there is a place for the line to be drawn, rather than leave the sale and service of alcohol to the discretion of the aviation industry. Perhaps IATA can work with law enforcement agencies and ACI on imposing an alcohol limit such as those used for drunk driving, to prevent the further sale / service of alcohol to any passenger pre-embarkation. As to who should enforce this rule, and how it can be enforced, this question can best be resolved at the individual airport-airline levels.
