Munich Airport has revealed it is to provide expertise on two major projects at Taoyuan International Airport.

Munich Airport has signed an agreement with Taoyuan International Airport Corporation Ltd. (TIAC) to provide expert support on two major projects at the Taiwan Airport.  Taoyuan Airport, situated 30 kilometres to the west of the capital, Taipei, plans to redesign and expand its existing Terminal 2 and add a third terminal with capacity for 45 million passengers per year.

Under a memorandum of understanding between Flughafen München GmbH and Taoyuan International Airport Corporation Ltd, experts from Munich Airport will provide advice and assistance with both projects. The agreement, officially signed in Munich by Dr. Michael Kerkloh, the CEO of Munich Airport, and his counterpart at TIAC, Mr. David Fei, will now serve as the basis for negotiating the details of a potential consulting project.

The Terminal 3 project will provide an enhanced passenger experience capable of handling 45 million passengers per year with a future total passenger capacity of 86 million by 2042. The terminal will provide:

  • 26 Boarding Gates.
  • Efficient taxiway and airside service road design.
  • Convenient and understandable road traffic access.
  • Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 are connected by MFB to create a mega terminal concept.
  • A whole new commercial service concept.
  • Design guideline based on Smart, Green, and Re-culture concept
