Warsaw Chopin Airport has announced the appointment of Mariusz Szpikowski as new General Director of PPL and Chopin Airport Director.

Mariusz Szpikowski has taken up the role of Chopin Airport Director and General Director of PPL, the Polish Airports State Enterprise. His appointment, by the Minister of Infrastructure and Construction, follows the resignation of Michał Kaczmarzyk on 15 January 2016.

Mariusz Szpikowski began his professional career at international auditing companies, KPMG and Ernst & Young. Between 2000 and 2006 he was the CFO and Proxy at Carrier Polska – a company from the United Technologies Corporation Group, listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

Minister of Infrastructure and Construction appoints Szpikowski as Chopin Airport Director and General Director of PPL

Between 2007 and 2008, he spent two years as Vice-President of the Board and Financial and Commercial Director of Air Italy Polska Sp. z o.o. In 2013 he was appointed President and Financial and Commercial Director of the company. He was also chairman of the Air Poland Supervisory Board from February to June 2013.

Mariusz Szpikowski then joined LOT Aircraft Maintenance Services (LOT AMS), where for a year, until October 2014, he served as member of the board and director for finances and restructuring. 

Between October 2014 and April 2015 he provided investment consultancy services on the foreign aviation market.

Before being appointed to the post of PPL General Director, Szpikowski served as member of the board for finances in a rail industry manufacturing company, H. Cegielski – Fabryka Pojazdów Szynowych Sp. z o.o.

In 1996 Mariusz Szpikowski received a Master’s degree in English studies at University of Łódź. Between 1996 and 1999 he obtained Certificate Stage awarded by ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), a global professional accounting body.
