With the capacity of airports becoming an increasing bottleneck in today’s airport operations, the key for more efficient operations is better sharing of information. Easy access to information for all stakeholders in a user-friendly, understandable and consistent format is essential. A real-time geographical ground view of airport activities improves situational awareness. Airports that are already using visualisation tools for flight and vehicle movements all indicate that it increased the situational awareness at their airport and provides valuable insight in the situation at the airport. It improves planning of resources on a daily basis and supports decision making in bad weather conditions.
Casper allows insight into shared information by integrating a variety of sources of information and by visualising this information in a single view. Casper CDM integrates A-SMGCS data with GPS tracking and existing data sources like an AODB. The data can be enriched with additional data sources, such as infrastructure status and de-icing information, real-time analysis and KPI’s. Clear indication of delays, gate status information and other performance indicators provide an overview of the operational situation and supports monitoring and decision making on operational issues.
The Casper CDM situational awareness map runs on any browser or any tablet, making it accessible for anyone, anywhere. It was specifically designed to be easy to understand and use. As every airport has unique operational challenges, the tool is flexible and configurable to customise to specific airport situations. All data is stored and correlated for further analysis. The Casper CDM analysis tool provides insight in past performance and enables analysis and replay of operational issues.
Casper CDM is used at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and London Gatwick Airport. It has led to more efficient airport operations, higher transparency, improved resource planning and coordination and better predictability.
