International traffic continues to feature prominently in this first month of the 2014-2015 winter season with growth of +18% to reach a cumulative +20.5%. In contrast with the other major regional French airports, several of which are in decline, air passenger traffic in Bordeaux continued to grow, rising +3.6%. International routes on one side and the low-cost sector on the other, progressed once again, by +12.5%, offsetting the slight decline for domestic routes.

Pascal Personne, Chairman of the Executive Board of Bordeaux Airport, said: “The increase in flight load factors and the opening of new routes have maintained a very good level of traffic. In December three new routes will start up: Pisa and Fuerteventura with Volotea, Lanzarote with Air Méditerranée.”

The international traffic continues to fare well: +18% and 119,000 passengers transported. The Amsterdam international hub (Air France/KLM and easyJet) again achieved a remarkable performance with +70%, as did most of the other hubs: London Gatwick +10.6%, Lisbon +9.9%, Madrid +3.3%. In contrast, traffic to the Paris Charles-de-Gaulle hub fell by 4.4% due to the reduced service offered by Air France.

All international geographical areas registered a sharp increase: Northern and Eastern Europe +33.9%, British Isles +14.3%, Southern Europe +13.4% and North Africa +8.6%. In leading position in November was the growth in connections to Belgium (Brussels/easyJet and Charleroi/Ryanair): +89.4%.

Scheduled domestic traffic registered 220,000 passengers and lost 2.8%. The area most affected was Paris which lost nearly 6,000 passengers during the month, or -3.3%. For the other destinations, good results were recorded for Marseille (+10.9%) with Air France and Nice (+5.2%) with Hop! and easyJet.
