At the April meeting of the Board of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA), the seven board members consisting of five members who are appointed by the Governor of Florida, one is the Mayor of Orlando and one is the Mayor of Orange County, named their new leadership for the next two years.

Fresh on his re-appointment by Governor Rick Scott to another four-year term expiring in 2018, GOAA Board Chairman, Frank Kruppenbacher was re-elected as Chairman of the Board while Dean Asher now assumes the duties of Vice-Chairman and Domingo Sanchez is the new Board Treasurer.

Other members of the Board are Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs, Dr. Jason Pirozzolo and Jim Palmer. Phil Brown remains Secretary and Dayci Burnette-Snyder retains her position as Assistant Secretary.

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority was created in 1975 by a special State of Florida legislative act to oversee all aviation activities for the city’s two airports; Orlando Executive and Orlando International. The Chairman is elected by the Board for a two-year term and may serve up to four consecutive terms. The Vice-Chairman and Treasurer are also elected by the Board for a two-year term with no term limits. All members serve without compensation.

Orlando International Airport, with 35 million annual passengers, is the second busiest airport in Florida and 13th busiest in the U.S. The airport has 18,000 employees and generates $26 billion in direct and indirect revenue for the regional economy.
