Stansted’s extensive route network now serves over 160 direct scheduled flight connections to Europe, thanks to the launch of the first 9 new routes this week, firmly positioning it as ‘London’s Airport for Europe’.
Route development is expanding even further for both business and leisure travel and new services coming on line for Summer 2014 include:
- Ryanair to Athens, Basel, Bucharest, Osijek, Prague, Skelleftea, Brive, Podgorica
- Flybe franchise partner Loganair with twice daily connection to Dundee
- Atlantic Airways return with services to the Faroe Islands in June
Thomas Cook Airlines new links to Corfu, Fuerteventura, Heraklion, Izmir, Kefalonia, Kos, Rhodes and Skiathos later this summer.
Ryanair laid on Greek dancers to celebrate the launch of Athens; representatives from Brive-Dordogne Airport flew in to celebrate the new direct flight connection and Lorraine Kelly and Dennis the Menace flew in last Sunday to launch Flybe’s new Dundee connection;.
Speaking about the exciting route developments taking off at Stansted the airport’s Managing Director Andrew Harrison said:
“Stansted is London’s airport for Europe with now over 160 direct scheduled connections, more than any other UK airport, and the short haul market for both business and leisure travel is being greatly boosted this summer with 18 new services set to join the schedules giving passengers even greater choice.
“New route launches are always exciting developments and I’m looking forward to welcoming many more as we focus efforts on expanding our offer even further.”
