The number of passengers handled by Vienna Airport in January 2014 rose by 2.3% year-on-year to 1,406,351. Flight movements declined by 1.3%, while maximum take-off weight and cargo increased 1.5% and 9.9%, respectively, over the first month of the previous year.
The number of local passengers rose by 6.1% during January 2014. In contrast a decline of 5.4% was recorded in the number of transfer passengers.
Passenger traffic to Western Europe was 2.1% higher in January 2014, while the number of passengers travelling to Eastern Europe fell by 2.7%. Growth of 3.0% and 8.9%, respectively, was recorded by destinations in the Middle East and the Far East. The number of passengers travelling to North America rose by a strong 34.8% year-on-year in January 2014.
