Atlantic Airways, the Faroe Island based airline, has decided to move its UK flight operations back to Stansted and will launch new direct services on 5th June 2014.
Flights will operate twice a week each Monday and Thursday, making it an ideal connection for weekend breaks or week long stays.
The Faroe Islands, formed by a collection of 18 islands, are linked by a road and sub-ocean tunnel network making it easy to get around. Renowned for dramatic landscapes and mild climate influenced by the gulf stream, they are an ideal destination for hikers, birdwatchers or those seeking adventure.
Welcoming today’s announcement, Stansted’s Managing Director Andrew Harrison said:
“I’m delighted Atlantic Airways have chosen to return to Stansted and look forward to welcoming them back onto the schedules next summer. This will be a popular connection and we will do all we can to support the launch of these new services.”
Atlantic Airways CEO Magni Arge added:
“We have been impressed by the team at Stansted and its desire to work closely with us to ensure the success of our 2014 summer service to the spectacular Faroe Islands. We are also working closely with our partners in the islands’ new tourism team and are delighted that a number of new UK operators are now offering holidays in the Faroe Islands, which have been variously described as the world’s favourite unspoiled island destination (National Geographic Traveller) and “maybe the most curious place left on earth” (New York Times).”
