Shannon Group plc have today announced the appointment of aviation strategist Patrick Edmond as Group Strategy Director and Managing Director of its International Aviation Services Centre (IASC), with immediate effect.

Mr Edmond has extensive experience in the aviation industry spanning two decades, in Ireland, Europe, and worldwide, most recently as founder and managing director of successful aviation strategy consultancy e2consult.

Shannon Airport has been independent since January 2013. The new Shannon Group plc will develop both Shannon Airport and the assets of the restructured Shannon Development as well as developing a globally significant International Aviation Services Centre (IASC) at Shannon.

In his role, Mr Edmond will take responsibility for the growth and development of the International Aviation Services Centre (IASC). Mr Edmond will also have responsibility for the new Shannon Group’s overall corporate strategy.

Announcing the appointment, Chairman designate of the Shannon Group plc Ms Rose Hynes said: “Shannon Airport has had a really positive start to life as an independent entity. We’re working to grow passenger numbers to 2.5 million within five years and to develop a world-class aerospace industry. Patrick will bring outstanding experience and expertise to this task and I’m delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Welcoming the appointment, Shannon Group plc CEO Mr Neil Pakey said: “We are really excited about the prospects and opportunities for the Shannon Group and I am delighted to have someone of Patrick’s calibre join me on the executive team.”
