Chopin Airport handled over 1.1 million passengers in August 2013, a nearly 27% jump year-on-year and yet another record month for the airport.
Chopin Airport has just enjoyed its best August on record, with passenger numbers for the month passing the one million mark for the first time in the history of the airport (the previous all-time high for August was 978,000 travellers in 2011).
The current record of 1,165,00 passengers is largely down to good performance of low-cost airlines, as well as the new air carriers gained by Warsaw Chopin Airport in the 2012/13 Winter Season: airberlin, with 48,500 passengers carried since the beginning of the year, Aegan – 23,200, Emirates – 87,000 and Qatar – 51,000.
Since the beginning of 2013, Chopin Airport has welcomed over 7.3 million passengers, a 9.1% increase on the corresponding period of 2012, including more than 6.6 million travellers on international flights (+17.4%) and 736,000 domestically (-33.4%). Charter figures for the period totalled 932,000, a 7.1% fall year-on-year.
