Systems Interface, based in the UK, has again demonstrated their ability to deliver complex projects on time and in budget at international airports around the world by completing the installation of NAVAIDS at Kopitnari International Airport, Kutaisi, Georgia, for Sakaeronavigatsia Limited.

Systems Interface has supplied, commissioned and installed; two Park Air Systems ILS (Instrument Landing Systems), two Moog Fernau DME (Distance Measuring Equipment), one Indra DVOR (Doppler VHF Omni Range transmitter), the airport became operational in September 2012.

Mr Giorgi Ediherashvilli, Director and CEO at Sakaeronvigatsia said, “All the excellent equipment is now operational and we are very pleased with their efficient and skilful installation. We look forward to working with Systems Interface on future projects”.

Kopitnari International Airport is located 14 km west of Kutaisi, the second city in Georgia and capital of the western region of Imereti, will soon to become the home of the Georgian Parliament when it relocates from Tbilisi.

With the upgrade of the airport to CAT 1, allowing the landing of 737 and A320 type aircraft, Kopitnari (Kutaisi) will become the centre of aviation in Georgia attracting high-quality, low-cost air carriers such as WizzAIR, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Easter Europe who have commenced flights between Kiev and Kutaisi.

WATCH NOW ON DEMAND: Enabling checkpoint flexibility with responsible open architecture

Join us for an essential virtual panel supported by Smiths Detection. We will explore how airports can overcome the challenge of mixed vendor systems by adopting a flexible, open approach to checkpoint technology.

This session offers a focused look into achieving efficiency, agility, and future-readiness.

Key learning points

  • Understand what to ask during procurement to ensure long-term flexibility and avoid vendor lock-in.
  • Learn how centralised image review and flexible algorithm use can help you get more from the technology you already own.
  • Strategies to make mixed vendor screening systems work together to improve checkpoint performance and reduce costs.
  • See examples of collaborative deployments and the operational agility they enabled.
