Chopin Airport handled 894,000 passengers in September 2012, a 10.3% drop year-on-year.
September also saw a fall in aircraft movements, with 12% less landings and take-offs than a year before.
“Last September was the best one we’ve had. This year, however, a lot of things have changed. Low-cost traffic has fallen significantly, as have charter flights. All this is reflected in lower passenger numbers,” said Michał Marzec, Director of Chopin Airport.
Since the beginning of the year, Chopin Airport has welcomed 7.6 million travellers (+5.6% on January-September 2011), with a total of 1.2 million passengers carried on domestic flights (+53.1%) and 6.4 million on international services (-0.4%).
