A total of 4,168,326 passengers flew to or from one of Avinor’s airports during August. This represents an increase of 5.8 per cent compared to last year.

International traffic showed the greatest increase at 7.4 per cent. Domestic traffic increased by 4.9 per cent. Total traffic increased by 5.7 per cent for the period January-August this year compared with the same period in 2011.

The number of aircraft movements in August increased by 3.9 per cent.

Passengernumbers increased by 4.6 per cent in August at Avinor’s largest airport, Oslo Airport, Gardermoen. A total of 14,713,261 passengers flew to or from Oslo Airport between January and August this year – an increase of 5.3 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Among major airports, growth was strongest at Stavanger Airport, Sola. Passenger numbers rose by 14.6 per cent in August. Bergen Airport, Flesland demonstrated growth of 4.1 per cent, while Trondheim Airport, Værnes recorded growth of 7.8 per cent.

The national airports of Bodø, Tromsø, Kristiansand, and Ålesund showed growth of 4 per cent on average. Among these, at 8.4 per cent, growth was strongest at Kristiansand Airport, Kjevik.

In August, growth at regional airports averaged 5.5 per cent, and 7.1 per cent at local airports.
