Leaders’ series: Collaboration in the global aviation system
Posted: 21 December 2018 | Jeanne M. Olivier | No comments yet
Airports and air travel serve important social as well as economic roles for the world’s population. Jeanne M. Olivier, Chair of the American Association of Airport Executives, reveals the economic benefits to communities from airports and air travel.

Business transactions, shipping and, of course, personal travel including tourism are facilitated by the speed and convenience of air travel. Thus, a community’s air service promotes job growth, and generates revenue that in turn stimulates additional jobs and benefits. The social role of aviation is perhaps less obvious, but can encourage mutual understanding, cooperation and innovation through travel and exposure to other cultures, physical environments, and institutions.
