Monty Burgess, Executive Vice President and COO of the MNAA, will retire June 30, 2011…


Monty Burgess, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA), will retire June 30, 2011. Burgess also served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and Vice President, Operations and Maintenance during his nine years with the MNAA.
“Monty provided indispensable knowledge, dynamic leadership and commitment to the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, enhancing and promoting the Nashville Airports Experience,” said Raul Regalado, President and CEO of the MNAA. “He provided essential leadership during Nashville International’s first interior renovation of the existing terminal since it was built in 1987 and oversaw major improvements and increased services at John C. Tune Airport.”
Burgess provided oversight and dedicated management of the MNAA’s Operations, Maintenance, Public Safety, Community Affairs and Customer Service, Finance, Purchasing, Treasury, Accounting, Information Technology, MNAA Properties Corporation, Business Development, Continuous Improvement, Properties, and Planning, Design and Construction departments.
Burgess joined the MNAA staff from St. Petersburg, Florida, where he served as the Airport Director since 1998. Previously, Burgess worked as the Airport Executive Director for Montgomery Airport Authority from 1995 to 1997 and as the Director of Aviation at the Mobile Airport Authority from 1987 to 1995. Other previous employers include the Birmingham Municipal Airport, Albuquerque International Airport and Dothan-Houston County Airport Authority.
Burgess has 37 years of experience in the aviation industry following six years of service in the U.S. Army. He has a master’s of business administration degree from Troy State University and a bachelor’s degree in science from Auburn University. Burgess is an Accredited Airport Executive, a professional accreditation from the American Association of Airport Executives.
