Passengers travelling from Brussels Airport will once again be able to use the airport’s departures hall following closure caused by the recent terrorist attacks. The 21 airlines that still have their check-in desks in the temporary constructions will return to the terminal and a further two rows of check-in desks will be installed.

Once open, the airport will operate 28 departing flights an hour, this will gradually increase to 44 in order to meet the summer rush. Brussels Airport believes passengers will be able to get from the airport entrance to their gate in less than 60 minutes, which is just as fast as before the attacks.

At the end of last week, the Diamond building which accommodates the elevators and escalators, partly reopened allowing passengers to directly proceed to the bus station from the departures or arrivals hall. Transfer passengers who pass through the terminal, can use the escalators between the arrivals and departures level. Passengers and staff, who take the bus at Brussels Airport, need less time to get to their bus stop from the arrivals hall.

The access from the train station in the Diamond building will be reopened in the course of June. Work continues in the terminal to reopen other areas to the passengers.
