Tom Ruth, President and CEO of Halifax International Airport Authority, was elected as the Vice Chair of the Canadian Airports Council Board of Directors today. Tom will serve for the next two years with Bill Restall, Saskatoon Airport Authority President and CEO, who was elected Chairman of the association.
Tom joined Halifax International Airport Authority in January 2008. Under his leadership, Halifax Stanfield International Airport handles more than 50 per cent of the air passenger and cargo traffic in Atlantic Canada, contributes more than $1.2 billion to the provincial economy, is responsible for 12,000 direct and indirect jobs, and is an internationally recognized leader in customer service, having been rated the Best Airport in the World in its class.
